Academic Letter of Recommendation (California)

Academic Letter of Recommendation Instructions:

On top lines enter the name, institution and address of the person writing the letter

In the next set of lines enter the contact information of the person or entity receiving the letter

Next enter the date of the letter.

On the dear line enter the name of the person to whom the letter is addressed.

In the first sentence enter the name of the person being recommended and then enter the name of the school, university, program etc.… that you are recommending the person for. An example of how to fill out this first paragraph is: It is a great pleasure for me to recommend David Smith for the Honors and Scholars at James University.

In the next paragraph you will state how long, in terms of months, years or how many semesters you know the applicant for. Then enter the name of the classes that you have thought with the applicant as a student. An example on how to fill out this paragraph, I have known David for a number of three semesters. David has been a student in my Biophysics and Cell and Molecular Biology classes and has shown exceptional skill and ability.

In the next paragraph you will give specific examples of the applicant’s hard work, diligence or other academic example highlighting the applicant’s capabilities. An example of how to fill out this paragraph is: David has proved to be a hard-working, diligent, responsible and smart student. For example, I was particularly impressed with David’s work in the biochemical research paper, where he worked diligently and presented his research in a very meticulous manner. David is also an exceptionally hard-working student and participates in every class. He is a great addition.

 In the final paragraph you will enter the applicant’s first name and your phone number in case there are any follow up questions.
